About Ann Cummings
Ann
is a Level II Centered Riding Instructor. In 2000 Ann worked with nationally
known level III CR instructor, Donna Snyder Smith to receive her recommendation
to Centered Riding and received her Level I instructor status through Level IV
CR , international Instructor and author, Wendy Murdoch. In 2005 Ann received
her Level II recommendations through Senior level IV CR international
Instructors Sue Leffler and Lucille Bump.
Throughout her riding
career, Ann has received instruction from cavalry and dressage masters to
members of the USEF and a former member of the French equestrian team and
graduate of the Cadre Noir - one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious riding
academies. She believes in continuing and diversifying her education. She has
also worked with T.E.A.M., as some of theses methods parallel Centered Riding’s
philosophies. She has also worked with Tom Nagel in his rider biomechanics
clinics.
Ann grew up riding Hunt
Seat Equitation and jumping. She has ridden western while working on dude
ranches out west. She currently rides and competes in distance riding with
one of her students!
Ann works with ages 7 to adult
teaching and coaching Endurance, Competitive, Dressage, Eventing and Pleasure
riders. One of her greatest rewards is to share fun and effective methods to
help riders “think outside the
box” to increase skills and confidence in both rider and horse. Small and
subtle changes can often bring big results. Ann travels throughout Wisconsin to
teach. She also teaches, coaches, and trains, competitors and pleasure riders
from her own barn in Elkhorn.
About Centered Riding
Centered
Riding is method of re-educating the rider’s mind and body to achieve greater
balance and harmony with their horse. Through a variety of techniques it
teaches the rider how to ride with balance and an independent seat. The rider
gains poise and strength. The horse gains greater freedom of movement, fluid
strides, becomes calm and confident in working with its rider.
